Chronicles of Kern County

March - September, 2008

exhibitphoto3:

Chronicles of Kern County came about due to Inga Barks and Blake Taylor from KERN-1410 coming to the museum and asking if we would be interested in writing and recording a one-minute segment to air each week on the history of Kern County. This was a great opportunity to make people more aware of Kern County history and to market the Kern County Museum.

After more than a year of this fruitful partnership, the museum decided to combine some of the stories with images from the tremendous collection of photographs at the museum. This exhibition, as well as a book by the same name, are the result.

There is a great deal of test in the exhibition. Visitors are invited to read as little or as much as they like.

Highlights from the exhibition:
An International Romance
The Great Fire of 1889
The Start of the Great Water Wars
