Kern County Fair Exhibit Building
Over the years, county fairs have provided a venue for farmers and their families to showcase crops, livestock, arts and crafts and learn about the latest agricultural techniques. The land presently occupied by the museum was once the Kern County Fair Grounds. This building was used as a community exhibit building to display locally grown crops. The Kern County Fair moved from this site to its current location in southeast Bakersfield in 1952.
Prior to becoming the fair grounds, this property was a farm owned by Solomon and Philo Jewett. The Jewett brothers utilized this land for growing crops and raising sheep.
The building is currently being used to house the Museum's Buildings and Maintenance Department.
