The Kern County Museum hosts several major events and exhibitions throughout the year to draw the community to the Museum and raise funds for the Museum's education and preservation efforts.

Annual events include:
  • Senior Summer Festival (June)
  • Neon Night (June)
  • Summer Fun Days (June and August)
  • Fun in the Sun Car Show (September)
  • Clock Tower Holidays (November)
  • Cookies at the Clock Tower (December)
  • Holiday Lamplight Tours (December)
Past exhibitions have included:

  • The Bakersfield Sound: Hard Drivin' Country
  • Heroes of the Sky: Adventures in Flight, 1903-1939
  • Picturing Fashion: Hightlights from the Museum's Costume Collection, 1860-1920
