Delano, California

Located about 32 miles north of Bakersfield on Highway 99, Southern Pacific Railroad named Delano in 1873 for Columbus Delano who served as U. S. Secretary of the Interior from 1870 to 1875. The city of Delano was incorporated in 1910 but the incorporation lapsed within a short time. It was reincorporated in 1915.
