Havilah, California

Asbury Harpending named Havilah for the Biblical land "where there is gold," and there was gold in Havilah. It 1866, the town became county seat of the newly established Kern County. In 1874, an election moved the government to Bakersfield. Havilah is located 8 miles south of Bodfish between the Kern River Valley and Walker Basin.
