Tehachapi, California

Located in the Tehachapi Valley about 40 miles southeast of Bakersfield, the original community of Tehachapi was established about four miles west of the present location in the 1860s. For less than a year, the Southern Pacific Railroad operated a depot called Summit Station near the west end of the valley in 1876, but the name quickly changed to Tehachapi. The City of Tehachapi was incorporated in 1909. The famed Tehachapi Loop is located nearby.
