Kernville, California

Located in the Kern River Valley on the west bank of the north fork of the Kern River, this mining camp was established in 1863 as Williamsburg. It became popularly known as Whiskey Flat. In 1951, a new town of Kernville was laid out several miles north, and old Kernville was inundated upon the completion of the Isabella Dam in 1953.
