McFarland, California

Located about 25 miles north of Bakersfield on Highway 99, McFarland was named for J. B. McFarland who established the town with W. F. Laird in 1908. In 1909, the Associated Oil Company built a pumping station in McFarland for its pipeline from the Kern River Field to San Francisco.
