Boron, California

Established in 1926 after the discovery of borax by the U. S. Borax and Chemical Corporation, Boron was initially called Amargo after the local Santa Fe Railroad siding. With the establishment of a post office, the community's name was changd to Boron, the chemical element in borax. The town is located 29 miles east of Mojave on State Highway 58.
