Cantil, California

Located about 20 miles northeast of Mojave, Cantil was established in 1908-09 when the Nevada and California Railroad line was extended south from Owens Lake to Mojave. It is located on Southern Pacific's Owenyo Branch "The Jawbone," between Cinco and Gypsite. The first post office was established on August 5, 1916.
