Caboose

sfCaboose: This ATSF No. 1323 caboose was the living quarters for a freight train crew while the train was in service. Inside are bunks for sleeping, lockers, an ice box, a pot-bellied coal stove, fuel and sanitary facilities. In the center of the car is the conductor's desk where the trainmen could take care of their administrative work. This type of rail car is typical of the early cabooses used throughout the country in the early 1900s.
