Red Simpson

redSimpson1: Red Simpson was at the Wagon Wheel in Lamont when Fuzzy Owen first saw him perform. Owen arranged for Red to work at his Clover Club as a piano player. Simpson later replaced Buck Owens at the Blackboard Café. Simpson began writing songs with Buck Owens in 1962 including the Top Ten hit Gonna Have Love. In 1965, Ken Nelson was looking for someone to record some songs about trucking. Simpson readily agreed and signed a contract with Capitol Records. In 1966, Simpson released the single, Roll, Truck, Roll (written by Tommy Collins), which reached #38 on the Billboard charts. In 1967, Buck Owens recorded Sam's Place written by Simpson and Owens. In 1971, Simpson recorded the Top Five hit I'm a Truck.
