KUZZin Herb Henson
Herb Henson came to Bakersfield in 1946. He worked as a disc jockey on local radio stations KERO-AM and KPMC-AM. Henson also performed as a comedian in local venues such as the Clover Club and the Blackboard Café. Henson’s Trading Post Show, featuring country music, first aired on KERO-TV. The show was broadcast Monday through Friday from 1953 to 1963. Henson became the president and general manager of the Bakersfield radio station KUZZ in 1960. The Trading Post Show celebrated its tenth anniversary on September 12, 1963 with performances by Glen Campbell, Roy Clark and Tommy Collins. On November 26, 1963 Herb Henson suffered a fatal heart attack ending his life at the age of 38.
