Semie Moseley
In the early 1950s, Semie Moseley built guitars with his brother, Andy, at their home in Bakersfield. In 1954, he built a double neck guitar for Joe Maphis. The Moseley brothers started the guitar manufacturing company, Mosrite of California, in Bakersfield in 1956. Gene Moles worked as an assembly line inspector for Mosrite. He introduced Semie Moseley to The Ventures guitar player, Nokie Edwards. The Ventures were a 1960s surf-rock band best known for the theme song for the television show, Hawaii 5-0. Mosrite built guitars for Barbara Mandrell, Glen Campbell, Don Rich, Tommy Duncan and Ronnie Sessions. The Moseley brothers also started a record label, Mosrite Records, and an artist management company.
