Hank Thompson
Western Swing artist, Hank Thompson, wore this two-piece stage costume designed by Harvey Krantz of Hollywood. Hank Thompson recorded his first single, Whoa Sailor with the Brazos Valley Boys in 1946. With the help of Tex Ritter he signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1947. His first big hit came in 1949 with Humpty Dumpty Heart. In 1951, the smash hit The Wild Side of Life remained number one on the music charts for three months. Thompson had 21 songs reach the Top 20 on the country charts and five Top Ten hits in 1954. In 1961, Thompson recorded the first live album ever released in the history of country music, the classic At The Golden Nugget. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.
