Rose Maphis

rosemaphisGuitar: Rose Lee Schetrompf (Rose Lee Maphis) was born in Baltimore in 1922. She began her musical career as a member of the musical group the Saddle Sweethearts singing on local radio shows. Rose met Joe Maphis while performing as a featured singer on Sunshine Sue's Radio Jamboree. The two musicians began performing together in the mid 1940s. Joe and Rose Lee moved to California in the early 1950s appearing on the Los Angeles television show Town Hall Party. In 1953, the duo cut the single, Dim Lights, Thick Smoke (And Loud, Loud Music). rosemaphisDress: Joe and Rose Lee Maphis recorded on Bakersfield’s Mosrite Records during the 1960s. Rose along with her husband Joe Maphis were known as Mr. and Mrs. Country Music. The couple appeared on Cousin Herb Henson’s Trading Post Show.
