Volunteers
If you can smile you can volunteer! A upbeat personality is all it takes to help out at the Kern County Museum. There are several different volunteer opportunities:

School Tours
Teach students the history of Kern County and the West. Through volunteers, programs such as:
- Native American Life
- One Room School
- California History Day
- Frontier Life
- Black Gold: The Oil Experience
Curatorial Services
Volunteers can assist curators with:
- exhibit production (graphics, photography, or painting)
- maintenance of museum costumes (sewing)
- research of artifacts
Museum Operations
Volunteers are able to assist with:
- buildings and grounds
- museum store
- events

Costumed Interpreters
As a volunteer you can wear period costumes as you interpret the history of businesses, homes and people of Kern County, giving visitors a true understanding of what life was like for past residents.
Public Outreach
You can assist with community outreach by marching in parades or attending a variety of functions as a goodwill ambassador for the Kern County Museum, both on and off site.
